Manuka Honey from New Zealand is a rare New Zealand honey that has been used in traditional medicine, as it has been found to be effective in treating numerous health conditions. The unique thing about Manuka Honey is that not only is it proven to have antibacterial properties, but also antiviral and antifungal properties.

Manuka honey is the product of a special type of woody flowering shrub named Manuka tree or New Zealand tea tree, which is native to New Zealand. The Manuka tree is full of nectar and produces dark coloured honey. This special honey has recently become popular for its antimicrobial properties and health benefits.

New Zealand Manuka Honey is antibacterial because of a special compound that occurs naturally within the honey. This compound is known as methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is a substance that has been shown to be effective in treating many different conditions, including acne, athlete foot, bee stings, burns, cuts and scrapes, ear infections, gingivitis (gum disease), throat infections skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis, and sore throats.

It is common for New Zealand Manuka Honey to have levels of MGO that are up to 100 times higher than other kinds of raw honey, which makes New Zealand Manuka Honey a true Superfood.

FREZZOR, however, takes this New Zealand Superfood to a new level with the addition of UAF1000+®.

UAF1000+ is a tested and certified blend of New Zealand grown antioxidants, including blackcurrant extract, red grape skin extract, kiwifruit extract, boysenberry extract, grape seed extract, pine bark, and fulvic acid, which have been specifically created to significantly increase the antioxidant capacity and modulate the body's inflammatory response in ways that even the best New Zealand Manuka Honey cannot achieve.

The reason that only New Zealand grown fruits and botanicals are used in the production of UAF1000+ is that research conducted over the past 20 years proves that New Zealand grown plants produce far higher levels of phytochemicals (biologically active and beneficial compounds) than the same plants and species grown in other regions of the world.

This is due to having a hole in the protective ozone layer above New Zealand, where high levels of ultra-violet (UV) light radiate from the sun and surge unfiltered on our land and into our oceans. This highly energized light turbocharges and potential damages millions upon millions of antioxidant-rich plant material every day.

We now understand that many plants respond to heightened exposure to UV-B by increasing the production of protective phytochemicals within their cells. These compounds act as the plant's natural sunscreen, and the process forms a vital part of the plant's stress response to UV-B. It acts in a way to protect the plant from further UV exposure as well as repairing the damage that has already occurred from elevated UV-B exposure.

In 2017, the New Zealand Government established strict guidelines for the collection, processing and export of Manuka Honey from New Zealand. All Manuka honey must first be tested at an approved laboratory to ensure that it is genuine Manuka Honey and it meets the highest quality standards before it can be exported and sold overseas.

It has long been known that honey is an antimicrobial. However, not all honey has the same properties. The traditional/raw honey, which has a low water content, maintains its antibacterial properties far better than more highly processed honey does. The reason for this is because the additional processing can destroy many of the active phytochemical compounds in the raw honey.

Manuka honey has received a tremendous amount of recognition and now is much more popular than most other types of honey. Many sources list the benefits of this type of honey as being that it is antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic and immune-stimulating. It is even being used to treat wounds and cuts. These are all correct, but they are only some of the many benefits that manuka honey has.

Manuka honey has been used in hospitals. They use it to treat wounds and cuts that have become resistant to healing and subject to frequent re-infection. It is also used for any types of skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis. This type of honey's antibacterial properties is very effective in treating these conditions because it can be applied with the risk of someone being resistant to antibiotic treatment.
